Comal ISD has been named to the 2020 Best Communities for Music Education list for the first time. Only 87 Texas school districts were named to the list with 754 districts nationwide.

Before "social distancing" became the norm, Canyon High School Student Council members along with various student organizations continued a tradition known as S.P.U.D. week which raises money to help other students in need.

March is "Youth Art Month," and the perfect time to celebrate young artists such as Gabby Vasquez who entered an original art piece for a t-shirt design contest and won.

While many student competitions have been canceled due to the coronavirus, the hard work and success of students who qualified for these competitions should still be celebrated. Here's one such student.

Starting March 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., we will begin offering free meals for current Comal ISD students Monday-Friday throughout the duration of campus closures at the following locations.

We are launching the Comal Continues: Home Learning Opportunities (HLO) resource webpage. The HLO webpage includes resources and activities organized by grade level to help keep your child’s learning moving forward and help structure their day while we are closed. There are also links to resources such as Vocabulary.com and Khan Academy, and guidance on how students can reflect on their learning activities.

The College Board has indicated that the SAT administration scheduled for Saturday, March 14 at Canyon High School is still on. Students should report at 7:50 to begin check in. Testing starts at 8:30. Students will test in groups of 20 or less. The College Board has indicated that refunds will not be issued if a student does not show to take the test. Teachers strive to provide their students with real-world lessons on subjects that will impact their lives today and in the future. The sixth grade teaching team at Pieper Ranch Middle School did just that when it collaborated on a project-based learning unit about water. The result is pretty amazing.
