A Canyon Lake High School SkillsUSA team won the Virtual Criminal Justice 2020 state championship title in a first-ever Zoom contest.

As scholarships begin to roll in for the senior class of 2020, one Smithson Valley High School senior found out that his Voice of Democracy audio-essay submission placed among the top 15 in the state.

One of the familiar faces students are missing these days is their school nurse. The one who takes care of that scrape from the playground; the one who takes their temperature when they are not feeling well; the one who makes sure they take their medication if needed; and so much more. Every day is a good day to thank them, but today, May 6, is National School Nurse Day.

Many traditions are being turned upside down these days, one of those traditions at Comal ISD is honoring the top academic seniors along with their mentors at a special banquet. On May 1, this year's virtual banquet was revealed.

Come rain or shine, these ladies and gentlemen have been standing on the frontline for their students, making sure those in need are well-fed even while their campuses are closed. They are the child nutrition professionals; they are the lunch heroes.

While Spring Signing Day wasn't the same this year with packed gymnasiums, balloons and lots of hugs, the excitement and pride those celebrations bring remain the same. As senior athletes made commitments or signed letters of intent to continue to play a sport at the collegiate level, parents and friends celebrated.

For one day, Thursday, April 30, Canyon High School will serve as a drive through testing site for anyone who would like to receive a free COVID-19 test. Appointments are required and will be scheduled beginning Tuesday, April 28.

In its continuing efforts to support the online learning of every student in the Comal Independent School District, the district launched its Bus Wi-Fi program Monday. Seven school buses equipped with wireless network devices were sent to seven locations throughout the district’s 589 square miles.
